THE DAY THE TWINS DIED BY ELEPHANT
THE DAY THE TWINS DIED BY ELEPHANT is an 8x6 signed print on heavy paper. Mama started it. She was a four ton, 110 year old elephant who went on the rampage on the banks of the Cape Fear River in Wilmington N.C. The local headline said it all: “Path of Pachyderm Strewn With Smashed Fences, Demolished Walls and Battered Outhouses-Eureka!”
Seeing the headline got me started. So I adapted a b&w “trick” or double exposure shot of a man pushing himself in a wheelbarrow circa 1900. The image was colored and an environment was created with the addition of grass, a cloudy sky and, um, Mama the deadly pachyderm. The rest is (made up) history. However, an actual headline about Mama is included on the upper right. For more stuff see peterjketchum.com.
Okay, okay purists. So lady Asian elephants don’t always have visible tusks. This is NOT an Asian elephant. It’s African. I might add a raging elephant male or female in North Carolina seems apt. #elephant #twins #doubleexposure #trickphoto #northcarolina #elephantrampage #ketchumart #peterjketchum
