And prayers? They pile up in a tangled mess like the senseless acts of violence. Send thoughts. Send hearts. Send unheard prayers. And prepare to send them again for the next round. Better yet, in lieu of thoughts and prayers and shots and flowers try some forceful policy change and legislative action. Policy and change. Rein in the NRA. Focus on counter-terrorism. Focus on gun control. Focus on mental health. DO SOMETHING!
President Obama said thoughts and prayers don't capture the heartache, grief and anger that should be felt. "It does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted some place else next week or a couple months from now."
The Pope said prayer and action must always be profoundly united. And then there's Mike Huckabee who pontificated that "the lack of thought and prayers is probably the single biggest factor in what is behind mass shootings."
Plague your legislators to do something for a change. Anything. Just get get off their damn knees and act!
