EZEKIEL AND PENN
EZEKIEL AND PENN is an 8X6 limited edition, signed print adapted from a larger piece I made. The image was adapted from a late 19th century Trompe l’oeil work. I did mine with found and copied photos. One is the mustachioed man. The other is a baby. I’d guess both were late 1800s. They have zero relation to one another. The images were enlarged and colored. The child’s head was cut out and mounted on a painted background. A cut was made in the top image of the whiskered man. The edges were folded over, and the child’s photo was pasted in the cut hole. On the bent edge is a made- up inscription. I think it identified the child as Penn— actually my son’s name. My original collage adapted for this print left the building years ago. As did my son.
Generational relationships interest me. How does one generation effect another, for better or worse. Fathers and sons. Mothers and daughters. Aunts and Uncles. Cut away the layers and there is a story to be told. #generations #trompeloeil #baby #whiskers #parentandchild #family #humanconnection #heritage #peter j. ketchum #collage #foundphoto #ephemera #mixed media #appropriation #affordableart #artspanprints
