THE MAN WHO WINKED WABI SABI

“The Man Who Winked” is an 8x6 limited edition, signed print. It was made adapting a found, rusty tintype of a man winking. Why is he winking? Who knows. I mean really, why does Mona smile?
“In Washington,“ Peter Welch said, “Delay is too often code for derail. Wink Wink.”
On the upper left are the Japanese characters for wabi sabi. The work is part of my on-going wabi series See peterjketchum.com. The wabi-sabi project uses stuff in less than perfect condition to make art. I leave the found photo or object alone except coloring and enhancing the image. wabi-sabi is an ancient Japanese aesthetic. It values the imperfect, and the simple reminders of lives lived. #foundphoto #tintype #winking #wabisabi #japaneseaesthetic #peterwelch #peterjketchum #ketchumart #artspanprints
