MEOW AND THE SLEEPING CATS is an 8x6 limited edition, signed print. “I am not a cat man,” James Thurber wrote, “but a dog man. All felines can tell this at a glance - a sharp, vindictive glance.” And I know that to be true.
The background of my print is adapted from a 1919 sheet music cover for a song called “MEOW.” The alley cat’s howling at the moon has woken up the kittens sleeping in the clouds. Not very considerate. Rude, in fact.
Jane Pauley said you cannot look at a sleeping cat and feel tense. Well, maybe not. Besides, Rod McKuen stated, “cats have it all. Endless sleep, and company only when they want it.”
Cats know stuff. Alice worried much as I do lately that she’d go mad. “Oh you can’t help that,” the Cheshire Cat told her. “We’re all mad here.”
