ME TAPED AGAINST THE WALL
ME TAPED TO MY STUDIO WALL is an 8x6 original signed print on paper in an edition of ten. So, why this? Well, there’s a person who emails me diet pill ads. And who sees me on the street and tells me about a new diet. Just out of the blue, I’m told, it will help me, you know, be thin. He's at the end of a line stretching back 76 years. Blah blah blah. Quel bore! Quelle douleur dans le cul! So I worked up a sketch of me from a life photo shoot I did with the great photographer Jeff Foxx ten years ago. I taped the sketch to my studio wall. I think it will become, like, a 12 x 20 to 30 foot WIDE in-your-face oil on stretched canvas. Very Lucian Freud or Rubenesque or Botero? Yes, Botero. Or like a Larry Rivers's Berdie except male. And when completed (by the next Whitney Bi) I will offer it free to MOMA or The Met and they will be speechless with gratitude. People of all sizes and shapes will line up to see it. For sure. In the meantime, this whole body shaming or ANYTHING shaming thing is out of hand as if we had nothing more important to think about in this troubled, very scary, beleaguered world. Thinness shaming. Height shaming. Neck butt ankle ear skin age nose hairy bald gay straight left right shaming. All a shameful bully-esque waste of mental energy. Stop it.
